Aerial Yoga is ideal for the inversion enthusiast! This Aerial Yoga class will vary from the others in that the focus is more on the 'workout' element found in the technique.

AERIAL YOGA Las Vegas

Aerial Yoga for Beginners (and Beyond) — All Levels Welcome

What Is Aerial Yoga?

Aerial yoga combines traditional yoga poses, aerial arts, calisthenics, Pilates, and dance — all while suspended in a soft silk hammock that acts as your support and resistance tool. Unlike mat yoga, aerial yoga removes the stress of holding challenging ground-based poses, freeing your body to explore a full range of motion while building real strength.

At Shine Alternative Fitness in Las Vegas, our aerial yoga classes are designed for every body and every level. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced yogi looking for a new challenge, you'll find a class that meets you exactly where you are.

What to Expect in Class

Classes at Shine focus on zero-compression inversions, body awareness, grip strength, balance, and coordination. Students learn to work with the plumb line — understanding how their body moves in space — while progressing through swings, tricks, and dynamic sequences. The meditative and workout elements are both available depending on the class level you choose.

No prior aerial experience is required for our Intro to Aerial Yoga class. Our certified instructors guide you safely through every movement, ensuring you feel supported and confident from day one.

Class Levels

• Intro to Aerial Yoga – Perfect for first-timers. Learn the hammock, basic inversions, and fundamental positions in a welcoming, no-pressure environment.

• Aerial Yoga Open Class – A full-body workout with zero-compression inversions, swinging, and trick work. Ideal for those who have taken the intro class.

• Aerial Yoga Level 1 – Intermediate progressions for students who have mastered the basics. Expect dynamic sequences and increased difficulty.

What to Wear

Wear a short-sleeve or long-sleeve shirt (no tank tops), and yoga pants or capris. Remove socks, shoes, and jewelry before class. Avoid lotion on your arms and legs so the hammock can grip your skin properly.

Who Is Aerial Yoga For?

Aerial yoga is for everyone — men, women, all ages, all fitness levels. It's especially popular for people who want a low-impact workout that still delivers serious results in flexibility and core strength. Many clients come to us having never done any aerial work before and are amazed at what their body can do by the end of the first class.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be flexible to try aerial yoga?

Not at all. Flexibility is something you'll develop over time. Our instructors meet you at your current level and help you progress safely.

Is aerial yoga safe?

Yes. Our hammocks are rigged to support well over 1,000 lbs and our instructors are trained in aerial safety. All students are spotted and guided through every movement.

How is aerial yoga different from regular yoga?

Aerial yoga uses a silk hammock to support and deepen poses, decompress the spine, and allow for movements that aren't possible on a mat. It's more dynamic and tends to engage muscles you didn't know you had.
